60 YEARS OF THE SCORPIONS:
*Over 120 million records sold.
*Performed at the first Rock in Rio festival — in front of 1.3 million fans.
*10 sold-out concerts as the first band from the West in Leningrad and then at the
Moscow Music Peace Festival.
*Sold out NYC's infamous Madison Square Garden three times in a row.
*Two dozen studio and concert albums, which have been awarded nine gold and
four platinum awards in Germany, among others.
*Over 5,000 worldwide concerts performed.
*There's Scorpions spirits — both a whiskey and a beer.
*There's a Scorpions stamp, as well as a Scorpions Street in Madrid. October 6 is
celebrated as Scorpions Day annually in Los Angeles.
*The accolades are endless, including the Word Music Award, the Echo, a star on the
Hollywood Rock Walk, and induction into the Hall of Heavy Metal. In Brazil, a new
species of spider was named after them, and countless children around the world
bear the artists' names as a tribute to the band.
*Worldwide, 127 precious metal awards were presented: 58 platinum, 67 gold, and
two silver. Most awards came from France (18) and the USA (14).
